16-year-old indicted in drowning of infant son

May 1, 2009

An Avondale teen was indicted Friday in the drowning of her 8-month-old infant son in February 2009.

Forrest Day, 16, reportedly went to a room on the opposite end of the house and closed the door for about 15 minutes, while her infant son, Elijah, was in the bathtub. Day's 9-year-old brother found the baby floating in the bath tub, and Day attempted to perform CPR. Day went to a neighbor's home for help, but the child was pronounced dead.

Day faces charges of negligent homicide and child abuse.
