A 2-year-old girl nearly drowned in a community pool in the 1900 block of North 13th Avenue late Wednesday afternoon.
The girl, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was with her 7-year-old sister. She apparently went under water and did not surface.
When Phoenix firefighters arrived, the girl was not breathing and did not have a pulse. She was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.
Rescuers did not know how long the girl was underwater.
