An 11-month-old infant who nearly drowned in a Phoenix hotel bathtub Dec. 28 was expected to be removed from life support Monday morning, Phoenix Fire Department officials said.
Officials had previously reported that the baby had already been taken off life support.
The baby boy was still alive Monday afternoon, Phoenix fire spokeswoman Shelly Jamison said.
The child was in the bathtub with his 3-year-old sister around 9 a.m. Dec. 28, when the children's father briefly left the room to get coffee. When he returned, the infant was submerged under the bathwater, Phoenix fire Capt. Courtney Jenkins said.
The infant's family, from Cottonwood, was visiting relatives in the Valley and staying at the Homestead Studio Suites hotel near 19th and Dunlap avenues.
