Authorities have identified a 26-year-old man who drowned last weekend while swimming at Lake Pleasant.
He was Warren Burgess Jr., a Buckeye resident whose body was pulled Saturday from Cotton Cove.
Deputy Doug Matteson, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, said Friday that the circumstances of the drowning remain under investigation.
Officials said Burgess had limited swimming experience but had tried to swim across the cove, near the lake's recreational vehicle parking lot, before slipping into the water about 15 yards offshore.
The man's girlfriend tried to help but was unsuccessful, said a sheriff's spokeswoman.
