A 2 1/2-year-old Phoenix girl drowned Friday, the city's third water-related child fatality this year.
Her identity was not released. She was found in her family's backyard pool in the 4600 block of North 53rd Drive shortly before 7 p.m. Phil Yeager, Phoenix fire battalion chief, said there's no indication how she got into the pool area, which was completely fenced.
