A 45-year-old quadriplegic man drowned Thursday morning in his backyard pool.

Tom Myers of Peoria was found floating in the pool, his wheelchair at the bottom, by his wife at 8 a.m. at their home in the 15400 block of North 86th Lane.

Myers died about 10 a.m. at Arrowhead Community Hospital in Glendale where doctors placed him on a ventilator and tried to warm him for more than two hours, hospital spokeswoman Kim Antoniou said.

It is unclear how Myers fell into the pool.
