A 2-year-old boy was in critical condition Friday night after nearly drowning in the family's backyard pool.
A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman says it happened around 7 p.m. near 39th Avenue and Camelback.
The boy was found in the pool by his parents. It's unknown how long he was in the water.
Rescue crews performed CPR and took the child to St. Joseph's Hospital.
