A 4-year-old girl who was found floating facedown in a west Phoenix residential pool died Friday evening.
Elizabeth Miranda was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center about 6:30 p.m., Phoenix Fire Battalion Chief Phil Yeager said.
Family members said they had not seen the child for about 30 minutes when they found her in the pool at her home in the 8700 block of West Pinchot Avenue.
A fence surrounds the pool, but it was not locked, Yeager said.
It is the 58th drowning or near-drowning incident in Phoenix this year; 38 have been children under 5 years old.
