A Gilbert woman will be honored by town officials Tuesday night for performing CPR on a drowning child in a pool last month.
Jennifer Gawel will take part in a ceremony at 7 p.m. at the Town Council chambers that will include Mayor Steve Berman and Gilbert Fire Chief Collin Dewitt.
Family members of the child who was pulled from the pool are expected to attend.
On April 6, Gawel performed CPR when the child was found floating face down and not breathing in a community pool.
She helped the child breathe on his own before the fire department arrived.
The child recovered, and Gilbert fire officials said Gawel is responsible for saving the child's life.
