PHOENIX – A 2-year-old girl is hospitalized after being found in a west Phoenix pool.According to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson, the girl was found in a backyard pool at a home near 65th Avenue and Camelback Road.

The victim was found by another young child during a family party at the home, a Phoenix police spokesperson said. The girl’s parents were periodically checking on the girl who was playing outside.

Several kids were playing outside by the pool and they were wearing mini life vests as a precaution, police said. However, the victim wasn’t wearing one when she slipped in.

An older child at the home was able to pull the girl from the pool, authorities said. One of the kids attempted to perform CPR but was unsuccessful.

When firefighters arrived at the scene a parent was performing CPR on the child, a fire spokesperson said. Fire crews started treatment on the young victim as she was being transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, officials said.

On the way to the hospital, firefighters were able to resuscitate the girl who regained a pulse and began crying.
