The Labor Day weekend was shaping up like a typical holiday weekend in the Tri-state.
At least one person died as a direct result of the storm, a 17-year-old girl who was trapped under a capsized watercraft in Lake Havasu. And another person died in a motor vehicle accident in Bullhead City after leaving Community Park because of the approaching weather.

A two-year-old girl has died after she was pulled from a backyard swimming pool at a west Phoenix home Saturday.
Crews with the Phoenix Fire Department were called to the home near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road around 9 a.m. for reports of a drowning.

Officials are on the scene after the body of a woman was pulled from a canal in Phoenix early Tuesday morning.
Phoenix fire crews arrived at the scene sometime before 6 a.m. near 32nd Street and McDowell Road.

The Chandler Fire Department says the man was found unresponsive in a backyard pool. There is no further information on his condition.

Glendale police say a second child has died after two boys were pulled from a pool at a Glendale home on Friday evening. The pair were found in a backyard pool around 7 p.m. near 83rd Avenue and Missouri Avenue, which is south of Bethany Home Road.

EL MIRAGE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Police say a 1-year-old boy nearly drowned in El Mirage Thursday night after a babysitter left two children alone in the bathtub with the water running. The babysitter, 49-year-old Cynthia Gaddy, is accused of child neglect. It happened at a home near 127th Avenue and Thunderbird Road after 8:30 p.m.
Police say Gaddy was bathing a 1-year-old boy and 3-year-old and left the bathroom to “attend to a smelly diaper nearby.” While she was away, Gaddy told police she heard a timer go off in the kitchen for some baked goods she was making. Police confirmed late Thursday night that Gaddy is in custody for child neglect.

The Phoenix Fire Department said the family told fire crews the boy was underwater for at least two minutes.
