A child has been taken to the hospital after being pulled from a backyard pool in Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Captain Rob McDade, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department said that the boy was pulled from a pool at a home near 40th Street and Southern Avenue. The child was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, he said.

Crews searching for a missing hiker in the Tonto National Forest said they found a body on Monday and confirmed it belongs to the hiker who was swept away during flash flooding.
Shiloh Dorsett, 44, of Mesa, was pronounced dead Monday, according to a statement from the Gila County Sheriff’s Office.

TONTO BASIN, AZ — The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who went missing northeast of Roosevelt Lake during Saturday night’s storms.
Sheriff’s office officials say they received a 9-1-1 call around 11:20 p.m. reporting a possible drowning in Cherry Creek.
Authorities say two people were canyoneering – an extreme form of hiking – when the area was hit by flash flooding.
GCSO says one person was able to hike out and get help, but the other person was swept away by flood waters.

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Officials say a 20-month-old boy died after he was pulled from swimming pool by family members at a home near Dobson and Warner Roads on Friday.
Before firefighters arrived at the home, CPR was performed on the boy.

The Mesa Police Department said a one-year-old was pulled from a pool around 10:30 a.m. near Southern Ave. and Greenfield Road.
Lillian was taken to Carden’s Children’s Medical Center in Mesa. Talboys said Lillian was pronounced dead twice before noon, but efforts to resuscitate Lillian continued, and medical staff was able to get Lillian’s heart beating regularly. She is on a ventilator and is in critical condition.
“She’s doing really well… She’s opened her eyes a couple times, said Amy, the girl’s older sister. “She’s in there and she’s still trying to fight through everything.”

Mesa Police officials say a one-year-old girl who was found in a pool at a residential area Friday died, then showed signs of life soon after and is listed in very critical condition.
According to Mesa Fire officials, crews responded to a home southeast of the intersection of Southern Avenue and Greenfield Road for a drowning call, and when crews arrived, they discovered that the girl was already removed from a swimming pool by family members.
“At some point, the child showed signs of life and hospital staff immediately began administering additional life-saving measures. The child is currently alive and in very critical condition,” police said.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that it believes it has recovered the body of Willa Rawlings, 6, who was swept away in floodwaters.
It’s unknown how the baby girl got into the pool or how long she was in the water.
Mesa Fire and Medical crews responded to a near-drowning call Friday afternoon at a home near Southern Avenue and Greenfield Road.
When crews arrived, family members had pulled the baby girl from the water. It’s unknown how she got into the pool or how long she was in the water.
Mesa Fire and Medical crews treated and transported the baby girl to Cardon Children’s Medical Center where she later died.

Officials with the Sheriff’s Office said a resident spotted the man’s vehicle in the creek around 12:30 p.m. and called for help.
Officials with the Sheriff’s Office said a resident spotted 69-year-old Robert George Petitte’s vehicle in the creek around 12:30 p.m. and called for help.
Deputies located Petitte’s body approximately 200 yards downstream from his car, just 20 miles north of the Bar-X crossing where rescue crews are currently searching for 6-year-old Willa Rawlings who has been missing for more than a week.
“I want to stress to the public turn around don’t drown, signs are posted for public safety,” said Lt. Virgil Dodd.
The crossing has two permanent signs that say, “do not enter when flooded.”
Petitte is the fourth person to die in the creek in the past eight days.
