MESA, AZ – Officials are investigating a near-drowning involving a child at a Mesa home. Emergency crews were called to a home near McKellips Road and Val Vista Drive after noon on Monday.
Mesa fire officials say a 5-year-old boy was found at the bottom of a pool. A family member performed CPR on the child before officials arrived.
The child is said to be breathing on his own but is in critical condition.

Police say a 4-year-old boy who drowned in Peoria apparently used a chair to open the gate to the fenced-in pool.
The boy, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at a hospital Monday morning.
A preliminary investigation showed the boy appeared to have used a chair to open a door into the backyard before using another chair to access the pool before 8 a.m.

GILBERT, AZ – A 3-year-old boy has died after he was found in a Gilbert pool.
The incident happened at a home near McQueen and Elliot roads around 5:30 p.m. on May 23.
According to Gilbert Fire and Rescue, the boy’s mother found the child in the pool.
Firefighters say the child was not breathing and did not have a pulse when they arrived.
Police said the boy was transported to the hospital and died on Monday.

AVONDALE, AZ – Avondale fire officials say a 4-year-old boy has been taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition after he was pulled from a pool on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at the child’s grandparents home near 107th Avenue and Indian School Road during a family gathering.

BUCKEYE, AZ – Buckeye police say a 3-year-old has died after they were pulled from a pool in critical condition on Sunday evening.
According to police, emergency personnel responded to a home near Baseline and Miller roads after a family member pulled the toddler from the pool.
A family member performed CPR on the child until fire crews arrived, police said.
The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died.

PEORIA, AZ – Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office divers have recovered the body of a man who went missing Monday afternoon near a cove at Lake Pleasant.
Sgt. Bryan Vanegas said crews located the body of 54-year-old Fernando Vargas just after 10 a.m. Tuesday. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the drowning, Vanegas said.

QUEEN CREEK, AZ – A child has been taken to the hospital after being found in a pool of an unincorporated area near Queen Creek.
According to Queen Creek Fire and Medical officials, a three-year-old boy was found in a pool for an unknown amount of time.
The incident happened near Hunt Highway and Sossaman Road.
Officials say CPR was initiated, but the child was unresponsive.
