Boy drowns in river near Camp Verde on July 4th

CAMP VERDE – Authorities have released the name of an 8-year-old boy who drowned in a central Arizona river.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say the victim was Dimas Mendez of Prescott Valley.

They say the drowning occurred about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at a recreation area southeast of Camp Verde.
