Fire crews from Phoenix and Glendale took a toddler to the hospital Saturday after the child was found in a family pool.
Capt. Benjamin Santillan said crews responded at 12:40 p.m. to a home in the 39th Avenue and Cactus Road.

PHOENIX – Phoenix police are investigating after a 20-month-old child was found in a backyard pool.
Officials were called to a home near 83rd Avenue and Camelback Road around 11 a.m. on Thursday. The boy was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 20-month-old male toddler drowned in a west Phoenix pool Thursday morning, a Phoenix police spokesman confirmed.
The baby, who was rushed to a local hospital, had no heartbeat and was not breathing, said Troy Caskey, a spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department. The call kicked out near the intersection of Camelback Road and 83rd Avenue.

A 2-year-old girl who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Sunday after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool is improving.
The girl is awake and breathing on her own, Chandler Fire Battalion Chief Keith Welch. Tests are ongoing to determine if there was any long-term damage.
