The body of a man who drowned at Ashurst Lake near Flagstaff over the weekend was found Monday.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Sunday afternoon about a paddleboard that washed up on shore without a rider at Ashurst Lake, about 20 miles southeast of Flagstaff.

When officers arrived, they searched but did not find any clues about the lone paddleboard. However, officers found an unoccupied vehicle registered to a Flagstaff resident that was set up to haul a paddleboard.

Officers then received a call from a woman who reported her husband missing.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office searched the lake and surrounding areas throughout Sunday evening and could not find the man, who was not identified.

On Monday, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office dive team found a body in the lake around 4:20 p.m.
